Nanaimo and The Vancouver Island Conference Centre hosts the Canadian Nursing Students Association Annual Conference 2018

Nanaimo BC: The Vancouver Island Conference Centre welcomed the Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA) 2018 Annual Conference from January 22 – 28, 2018.

More than 400 delegates from across Canada attended CNSA 2018 which utilized the Vancouver Island Conference Centre for breakout sessions, keynote speakers, receptions, ceremonies and banquets.  The Newcastle Island Lobby was transformed into a trade show for CNSA 2018 exhibitors to showcase their products, services and knowledge.

Presented by Vancouver Island University, this student-run conference gave delegates an opportunity to learn about various areas of nursing and gain more insight into the roles of members of the healthcare community.  Delegates tackled and discussed diverse issues while also networking with students from across the country through a number of social activities.

The conference encompassed the entire City of Nanaimo, with delegates arriving to the city by all forms of transportation – BC Ferries, Air Canada/WestJet, Harbour Air/Seair & Helijet. Hotels, restaurants, retailers and various Nanaimo based venues, including the Nanaimo Museum, Brechin Lanes Bowling Alley, The Queens, and Swy-A-Lana Lagoon /Maffeo Sutton Park all contributed to the conferences success. The week-long event produced a positive economic impact for the City of Nanaimo of more than $880,000.  As an overall, Keeley Shaff: National Conference Director gave the following testimonial:

“From the early planning stages 2 years before the conference to the closing banquet, the service from the VICC was top notch! Delegates were extremely impressed with the wide variety and local inspired menus, the ease of the room flips and the onsite and off-site venues Nanaimo had to offer! This conference location will be hard to beat!”
