July 10, 2006 – K2 Stone Quarries becomes newest partner at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre

(Nanaimo, British Columbia) – The City of Nanaimo and K2 announced today a significant boost to the construction of the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

K2 Stone Quarries produces a number of natural stone products for a host of building and landscaping applications. K2 is contributing $25,000 to the project construction costs.

“K2 is another community partner to commit to the Vancouver Island Conference Centre,” announced Mayor Gary Korpan. “The City is thrilled with K2’s significant contribution, and in particular, that a local company that features lsland products is joining our partnership program. We believe this project offers an ideal opportunity for our Corporate Citizens to be recognized for their community support,” he said.

“The Vancouver Island Conference Centre is an exciting project for the City of Nanaimo,” said Dave Rinas. “As a company known for its beautiful building products its only fitting that we come onboard for a major local development such as the VICC”.

The City of Nanaimo has been working with local businesses to explore opportunities for them to participate in the project and create value for their shareholders, and the City’s taxpayers. The partnership with K2 is the third in a number of sponsorship opportunities expected as construction begins.

Nanaimo. The Quarries uses stone from the West Coast of Vancouver Island and produces a variety of building and landscaping products such as thinstone, flagstone, slabs, columns and boulders.
